Reports: Producer of controversial Puerto Rico television show resigns after outcry

The producer of a popular Puerto Rico news and gossip show featuring a puppet has reportedly resigned.

Local media outlets said Wednesday that Antulio "Kobbo" Santarrosa has left the "SuperXclusivo" show. WAPA TV spokeswoman Migdaliz Ortiz declines to comment.

A movie was broadcast during the show's usual Wednesday time slot.

The apparent resignation comes a month after controversial comments the "La Comay" puppet made about a publicist who was slain. The puppet questioned why the victim was on a street known for drugs and prostitutes and whether he "was asking for this."

Thousands of people demanded that the show be taken off the air and several companies withdrew their sponsorship. WAPA President Joe Ramos later said the show would be prerecorded.
