The West African country is in turmoil as incumbent President Gbagbo refuses to cede the position to rival Alassane Ouattara, whom the U.N. says won the Dec. 28 presidential election.
Martin Nesirky, a U.N. spokesman, said a mixed team of police and military personnel were attacked in the Abobo neighborhood when coming back from patrol. After their vehicle they were riding in was hit by bursts of automatic gunfire, the three were injured after it swerved into another vehicle, Reuters reports.
No one was hit by gunshots, officials said.
