A Polish toddler found unconscious in freezing temperatures in November has left the hospital after months of treatment that saved his life and restored limb functions.
At a news conference at the hospital on Thursday, Adam — aged 2 years 6 months — walked by himself and played with small toys and a mobile phone.
He still needs rehabilitation at home, but his condition is "all that we were hoping for," said Janusz Skalski, a children's heart surgeon who oversaw bringing the boy back from deep hypothermia. Adam's body temperature was only 12.7 degrees Celsius (55F) when he was brought to the children's hospital in Krakow.
Doctors said a lot of work was put into restoring his ability to walk and hold objects, lost when the freeze damaged his nerves.
