Police: 6 killed by Somali militants in attack on 2 Kenyan police posts near Somalia border

Kenya's police chief says gunmen believed to be Somali militants killed six people in an attack on police posts near Kenya's border with Somalia.

Inspector General of police David Kimaiyo said Sunday that two of the victims in the Saturday night attack were Kenyan police officers and that six more are missing.

He said the bodies of two administrative police and four civilians were discovered in the bush hours after the militiamen attacked two Kenyan police posts. He said the dead include a teacher, a Red Cross officer and a 15-year-old boy.

Kimaiyo said he believed the attackers belong to al-Shabab, the Somali al-Qaida-linked group that has staged many attacks inside Kenya in retaliation for the government's decision in Oct. 2011 to send troops into Somalia to battle the militants.
