A man died after he was hit by a car while riding a couch tied to the back of a truck in Canada.
Francois Halle, 22, was "couch surfing" when the driver lost control of the vehicle, pushing the sofa onto the opposite side of the road, where he was hit by another vehicle in Saint-Benjamin, south of Quebec City, CBC News reported.
Halle was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The 21-year-old driver, Alex Labbe, was arraigned Monday in court in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce and faces charges of dangerous driving for the Saturday incident.
Police said Labbe fled the scene of the accident but was arrested later at his home in Saint-Georges, Quebec.
The dangerous stunt has been seen in online videos showing people sitting on a couch as it is towed behind a vehicle at high speeds.
