A Lebanese-Canadian man who has admitted to being a member of the militant group Hezbollah has pleaded guilty to all eight charges against him in connection with the seizure of 9 tons of a chemical compound that can be converted into an explosive.
The prosecutor said Hussein Bassam Abdallah admitted that Hezbollah aimed to mount terrorist attacks against Israeli interests in Cyprus using the ammonium nitrate.
The charges against Abdallah include membership and support of a terrorist organization.
A state prosecutor told a criminal court at the start of Abdallah's trial Monday that the 26-year-old's mission to Cyprus since 2012 was to guard, and later move elsewhere, the ammonium nitrate that was kept in the basement of a Larnaca home that belonged to another official of the Iranian-backed group.
