Kenya: Extremist suspect holding police station hostage

A police official says a suspected extremist being held at police station in western Kenya has grabbed a gun and shot at police officers, leading to a hostage situation.

It's not clear how many people have been wounded or killed.

Kenya's police chief, Joseph Boinnet, said Thursday they have deployed police commandos to rescue other prisoners from the station and bring the standoff to an end.
