Israel has confirmed that a Gaza man who disappeared in Egypt last month is being detained for "security crimes."
An Israeli court partially lifted a gag order on the case Wednesday, identifying the man as Wael Abu Reda, from the southern Gaza Strip.
It did not say how or where he was detained or ended up in Israel.
The man was in Egypt seeking medical treatment for his son before he disappeared. His brother said he later received a phone call from an Israeli official who said Abu Reda was detained.
About two years ago, a Palestinian from Gaza disappeared on a train in Ukraine and resurfaced later in an Israeli jail. Israel says he was tied to the Islamic militant group Hamas. His family denies the charge.
