Israeli security forces Tuesday announced the arrest of five Arab men from Nazareth on suspicion of being supporters of the Islamic State terror group.
Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic intelligence agency, and the Israel Police Northern District said the men, aged 18, 18, 22, 23 and 27, were taken into custody throughout October and November, according to the Jerusalem Post.
"It emerged [during questioning] that in the past year, the youths obtained firearms and trained with them, while becoming more devout during meetings they held,” Shin Bet said in a statement. “They expressed support for ISIS, and praised the jihad against infidels."
Security forces seized two rifles which were allegedly used for practice shooting in a forest near Nazareth, the paper added.
The men have been charged with illegal possession of weapons, supporting an illegal organization, and taking part in illegal gatherings.
Israel has been on high alert for any ISIS-related activity in Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
In September, security forces announced the arrest of a Gazan ISIS-affiliated operative who tried to cross into Israel in July, the Jerusalem Post reports.
