Demonstrators in Guinea say riot police used tear gas to break up a rally demanding the return of a former military ruler who wants to run for president despite facing charges related to a 2009 massacre.
Marcel Kourouma, a supporter of Moussa "Dadis" Camara, said 200 people were gathered at the airport at the capital of Conakry Saturday when riot police dispersed them.
Camara, who seized power in 2008, went into exile in Burkina Faso in 2010. In September 2009, the presidential guard opened fire on protesters demanding his resignation, killing at least 156.
In July, Camara's lawyer said he had been indicted over the massacre, but Camara has nonetheless said he would run in October's vote.
The government did not immediately comment.
