A German court has convicted three men over their links to an ethnic Hutu militia involved in killing Congolese citizens.
The state court in Duesseldorf on Friday found two of the men, German citizens identified only as Bernard T. and Felicien B. in line with German privacy rules, guilty of membership in the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, known by its French acronym FDLR. They were sentenced to four and three years in prison, respectively.
A third German national, Jean-Bosco U., was given a two-year suspended sentence for supporting the group.
The court found that the two main suspects in 2011 and 2012 published propaganda for the FDLR on the Internet in consultation with its leadership, and that they were supported in that by Jean-Bosco U.
