Etihad Airways says Emirati security authorities have completed an investigation into the cause of multiple fires aboard a flight from Australia earlier in the week that was diverted to Indonesia because of smoke in the cabin.
The airline said Thursday that "all remaining passengers held for questioning" by authorities after landing in the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi were allowed to continue their journey. The government-backed carrier previously said 12 passengers were being detained by authorities.
The airline did not say if any arrests had been made or what caused the fires.
It says smoke was detected in two toilets after takeoff from Melbourne on Monday, prompting a diversion to Jakarta, Indonesia, and again in a toilet as the plane made its way to its destination of Abu Dhabi.
