Decision next week on Julian Assange extradition

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

WikiLeaks chief Julian Assange is to find out next week whether his bid to block extradition to Sweden has been successful.

Britain's Supreme Court said Wednesday the decision on his case will be announced next Wednesday morning.

His lawyers have asked the Supreme Court to rule that the European arrest warrant issued against him was invalid.

He is sought by Swedish prosecutors for questioning on sex crimes allegations relating to accusations made against by two Swedish women after he visited that country in 2010.

Swedish prosecutors say the arrest warrant is valid and must be enforced.

Assange has denied the allegations against him and says he would not receive a fair trial.

Financial and legal problems have in the last six months slowed the work of his secrets-spilling website.
