The speaker of the Czech Parliament says prosecutors have asked the lower house to strip outgoing Prime Minister Petr Necas of his immunity from prosecution in a spy and bribery scandal that caused the government to collapse.
Necas resigned last month after police arrested eight people, including his closest aide, who was charged with bribery and ordering a military intelligence agency to spy on Necas' estranged wife.
The house will have to vote on the request to remove Necas' immunity. The outcome of the vote is unclear.
Speaker Miroslava Nemcova told Czech public television Monday the vote cannot take place before September.
Necas has denied any wrongdoing.
President Milos Zeman is expected to appoint a new government led by his economy advisor Jiri Rusnok on Wednesday.
