Cologne airport flights halted over possible security breach

Published May 30, 2016

Associated Press

Authorities have temporarily suspended outgoing flights from Germany's Cologne-Bonn airport over suspicions that a person entered a secured area without undergoing security screening.

The dpa news agency reported Monday that airport police were now looking for the person.

No further details on how the person might have made it past security checks were available, and the airport police refused to elaborate.

As a precaution, authorities have shut down departures from the airport in the meantime, including calling back planes that were already on the tarmac.
