British broadcasters say they will proceed with a series of televised election debates even though Prime Minister David Cameron has said he will only participate in one.
Cameron said this week that he would agree only to a single contest involving at least seven party leaders, and not a one-on-one face-off with opposition leader Ed Miliband.
Miliband accused Cameron of "cowering from the public."
On Friday the BBC and ITV said they would proceed with plans for one debate each, including several parties, while Sky and Channel 4 said they planned a joint final debate featuring just Cameron and Miliband.
They said they hoped Cameron would attend but "it will always remain the decision of individual leaders whether or not to take part."
Brits go to the polls May 7.
