A Danish appeals court has found two men guilty of terror financing for providing money to a Kurdish separatist group, overturning their previous acquittal on the charges.
The Eastern High Court said Wednesday one was guilty of gathering at least 4.5 million kroner ($688,000) while the other of transferring 29 million kroner ($4.4 million) to a Kurdish satellite TV station linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK — labeled a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the European Union.
The court upheld the acquittal of eight others charged with transferring at least 130 million kroner ($20 million) to the PKK via Kurdish organizations.
Tens of thousands of people have been killed since the PKK took up arms in 1984 in its fight for Kurdish autonomy in southeastern Turkey.
