MOSCOW – Three Russian servicemen have been killed by a bomb that went off under their armored vehicle in the capital of Chechnya.
Interior Ministry spokesman Vasily Panchenkov was quoted by Russian news agencies as saying three other ministry servicemen were wounded in the Monday blast in Grozny.
Panchenkov said the servicemen belonged to a unit deployed at the Grozny airport.
The Chechen capital was devastated in two wars between separatists and Russian forces since 1994. Although major fighting died out years ago, sporadic attacks on Russian soldiers and police persist.
