Wis. man who recorded himself sexually assaulting kids, ages 2 to 6, sentenced to 145 years

A southeast Wisconsin man who made videos of himself sexually assaulting six young children has been sentenced to 145 years in prison.

Thirty-year-old Alexander R. Richter pleaded no contest to four charges related to child sexual assault. In return, prosecutors recommended a sentence of 80 years.

Judge Timothy Boyle disregarded the recommended sentence, saying during Thursday's hearing in Racine that Richter deserved a sentence that would guarantee he would die behind bars.

Boyle described how Richter won the confidence of vulnerable families and offered to babysit their children. Boyle says Richter then abused at least six boys and girls and posted videos of the attacks online. The children ranged in age from 2½ to 6 years old.

Richter apologized at the hearing, saying he knew words couldn't undo the damage.
