Police are investigating after some weapons were found on the grounds at Standley Lake High School in suburban Denver.

Westminster police say a campus supervisor found a shotgun and a lever action rifle between two sheds by athletic fields Wednesday afternoon, and two other hunting rifles were later found on school property.

Police say they believe the guns were part of a burglary at a nearby home.

Jefferson County school district spokeswoman Lynn Setzer says classes continued while police searched the school as a precautionary measure.

Police said they weren't aware of any recent threats against students or staff.
