An officer under scrutiny for shooting and wounding two half-brothers suspected of trying to steal beer has been reprimanded during his three years with a Washington state police department.
Personnel records reviewed by The Olympian newspaper (http://bit.ly/1GAhftq ) show that supervisors raised concerns in 2013 that Officer Ryan Donald put himself in situations where using force would become necessary.
He also received a written warning for arresting the wrong person in 2012.
But records also say Donald received commendations and completed dozens of hours of training for crisis intervention and other skills. His lawyer declined to comment on the personnel file.
Donald reported he was being assaulted with a skateboard before shooting 21-year-old Bryson Chaplin and 24-year-old Andre Thompson on May 21.
The investigation awaits a crime lab analysis before being sent to prosecutors.
