A judge has ordered a Ukrainian truck driver to serve two years' probation for screaming aboard a flight from Boston to Salt Lake City that a wing had caught fire.

U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby on Wednesday also sentenced 47-year-old Anatoliy Baranovich, of Portland, Oregon, to pay $57,000 to Delta Air Lines for damaging a plane door when he tried to yank it open.

Baranovich told authorities he had been drinking heavily for 50 days before causing the melee. He was also accused of offering federal agents money to let him go.

Defense attorney Ron Yengich says the behavior isn't typical of his client.

Baranovich pleaded guilty earlier to interfering with a flight crew. He faced up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
