Trick-or-treating back on for besieged town after 7-week manhunt ends with fugitive's capture

Trick-or-treating is back on in a northeastern Pennsylvania town that spent the last seven weeks gripped by a massive manhunt for the suspect in the killing of state trooper.

Not long after Eric Frein was arrested Thursday night, Barrett Township supervisors immediately started getting the word out that the town's hundreds of children can go trick-or-treating after all Friday.

The chairman of the town supervisors says "the kids have gone through enough," and deserved to be able to celebrate.

The traditional Halloween parade and door-to-door trick-or-treating had been cancelled while Frein was still on the loose in the heavily wooded township.

Frien is accused of killing one trooper and seriously wounding a second in an ambush killing Sept. 12. He had his first court appearance Friday morning.
