Yavapai County authorities say a traffic stop in northern Arizona has resulted in the seizure of more than a ton of marijuana.

The county Sheriff's Office says the seizure was made Thursday after deputies stopped a tractor-trailer rig traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 between Seligman and Ash Fork

The marijuana was packed in vacuum-sealed plastic bags in cardboard boxes in the trailer.

According to the Sheriff's Office, it's believed the marijuana was headed to the East Coast.

The Sheriff's Office says the driver and a passenger were arrested and the truck and trailer were seized along with the marijuana.
