Authorities say a British, a Dutch, and an American woman found dead inside an overturned car that went off a Newport Harbor pier in Rhode Island all drowned.
A state Department of Health spokeswoman said Tuesday that autopsies showed that Louise Owen of Wales and Femmetje Staring of the Netherlands drowned. Health officials said previously that Jennifer Way drowned.
The car was discovered on its roof in about four feet of water Friday morning. The bodies of the women, each 39 years old, were found inside. It is not clear what happened. Police have ruled out foul play and speculate the women missed a turn in heavy fog that blanketed the city early that morning.
