A University of Illinois at Chicago student charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old female student allegedly claims he was re-enacting scenes from the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Mohammad Hossain, 19, was a student ambassador to the school’s alumni association and was involved with several leadership programs, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Hossain and the woman went back to his dorm around Saturday evening, prosecutors said. The two had been intimate before, but were not dating, Assistant State’s Attorney Sarah Kerr said.

Once in the room Hossain allegedly asked the woman to remove her clothes and kept on her bra and underwear, Karr said. Hossain then bound the woman’s hands about her head and to a bed with a belt and used another belt to bind her legs and then stuffed a tie in her mouth, Karr said.

Karr said the 19-year-old covered her eyes with a skullcap and began to remove the woman’s bra and underwear. Hossain allegedly started to whip the woman with a belt before the woman told him to stop.

Hossain continued to strike the woman. The woman was able to get both hands free, but he managed to hold her arms behind her back and sexually assaulted her as she was begging for him to stop, Karr said.

The woman left after Hossain’s roommate arrived in the dorm room. She told a friend what happened and then called police.

The Chicago Tribune reports Hossain told police the two were re-enacting scenes from “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
