Spokane bomb squad detonates device found in car

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

A neighbor looking into a disabled car in north Spokane noticed a tube with a fuse on the end and called police.

A bomb squad detonated the explosive Tuesday afternoon with a boom that sounded through the neighborhood near NorthTown Mall.

The man who called police told KXLY said it was a cardboard tube, packed with something and wrapped with match heads on the outside.

The Spokesman-Review reports police contacted the owner of the car as part of their investigation. The car had been left by the side of the road Monday with a flat tire.
