    In the worst terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, 19 men hijacked four commercial jetliners on Sept. 11, 2001, flying two of them into the World Trade Center in New York City and one into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The fourth went down in a field in Shanksville, Pa.
