SC mother denied bond in deaths of boys who authorities say she killed, then put into river

A judge has denied bond for a South Carolina mother accused of suffocating her two young sons, then staging an accident by steering her car into a river with their bodies strapped inside.

Circuit Judge Edgar Dickson agreed with prosecutors Monday that 29-year-old Shaquan Duley (DOO'-lee) could be a threat to her remaining child, a 5-year-old girl.

Authorities say Duley has confessed to suffocating 2-year-old Devean Duley and 18-month-old Ja'Van Duley, then strapping them into their car seats and driving into a river.

Duley is charged with two counts of murder. Prosecutors have not said if they will seek the death penalty.

Her attorney said Monday that Duley cut her wrists with a boxcutter and intended to drown in the river but bailed out of the car.
