Murray City, Utah, Mayor Dan Snarr has worn his trademark handlebar mustache with pride for more than 30 years. But the mayor also has known mustache sacrifice, raising $2,000 this summer for The Children's Miracle Network by allowing local Costco shoppers to vote and donate ($1.00 per vote) for Snarr to either 'save' or 'shave' his historic mayoral mustache. After his constituents voted 'shave,' the mayor's wife April Snarr snipped the handlbars from his lip curtain on May 16, 2009. Thankfully, the mayor still sports what remains of his faithful mustache.read moreAMIShare![Attorney General Eric Holder]()
Since 1987, millions of Americans have known CBS correspondent Bill Geist and his well-coifed mustache. "He joined the network at a time when people of Mustached American descent were not welcome on broadcast television," the American Mustache Institute says. "And ignoring the vast discrimination which plagues Mustached Americans -- especially those seeking jobs in TV -- Bill has prospered, chronicling some of the quirkiest people and places in America."read moreAMIShare![Sully]()
Landry created mustache mania on the Oklahoma University campus after replacing the injured Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford, leading OU fans to dawn the finger 'stash, painted-on 'stash, and "fear the stash" T-shirts. In addition to the mustache fever, Landry racked up a NCAA record for passing yards by a freshman and a team record six passing touchdowns. Ryan, of the St. Louis Cardinals, entered the 2009 season as a utility infielder known for his scrappy defense. Then, along with many of his teammates, he grew a mustache. Don't let his green mustache fool you. John Yeutter, an accounting professor at Oklahoma's Northeastern State University, is a man on a serious mission. From his lively classroom discussions about finance, to his spirited displays of support from the River Hawk bleachers, Dr. Yeutter takes a colorful approach to his role in shaping the Northeastern experience, AMI says. "I try to be enthusiastic in everything that I do," Yeutter told AMI. "I'd like to think that I teach tax with the same excitement that I do when I cheer on the teams -- maybe without the yelling and screaming."read moreAMIShare![Michael Allen]()
