Police say a Virginia woman left her two children in a hot car while being booked on a charge of committing the same crime days earlier.
Lt. Col. Alisa Gregory of the Henrico County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that 25-year-old Laquanda Newby faces three counts of contributing the delinquency or abuse of a child.
Gregory says Newby was accused of leaving her children in her car May 26 while she shopped at Sam's Club. When she turned herself in for that charge Monday, police say she again left the 6-year-old and 1-year-old boys in the car with the windows rolled up on a 90-degree day. Gregory says the children were drenched in sweat but otherwise OK after two hours in the car.
Gregory didn't know whether Newby has an attorney.
