Authorities in eastern Alabama are investigating a shooting in which a police officer fatally shot a man.
Rainbow City Police Capt. Chase Jenkins tells local news outlets that police responding to a reported disturbance at an apartment complex Sunday morning found a man armed with a handgun. Jenkins says the man, 38-year-old Joshua Tate Fielding of Hokes Bluff, was shot dead after an altercation and a brief foot chase. He died at the scene.
Police did not release further details about the shooting.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Department of Forensic Science are investigating.
