Police: Chicago gang member captures his own deadly shooting on video

Published July 05, 2017

Associated Press

Chicago police say they're investigating the killing of a gang member who appears to have captured his own fatal shooting in a real-time video post on Facebook.

Warning: Video may be considered disturbing.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 28-year-old Antonio Perkins. He was shot Wednesday in the North Lawndale neighborhood in Chicago.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says detectives discovered the video on the man's Facebook page and believe it's authentic.

The video shows a man recording himself standing outside and looking from side to side. Shots ring out and the camera falls to the ground in grass spattered with blood.

Guglielmi says Perkins served two years in prison for making heroin and was on the department's "strategic subjects list" of people determined to be likely targets or suspects in gang violence.
