A Philadelphia woman has been charged with trying to help the Islamic State group and "martyr herself" for the terrorist organization.
Prosecutors say 30-year-old Keonna Thomas attempted to travel overseas to fight with the terror group. She was arrested Friday morning.
Authorities say she communicated with an Islamic State group fighter in Syria who asked if she wanted to be part of a martyrdom operation. Prosecutors say she told the fighter that the opportunity "would be amazing."
It's unclear if she has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
She's scheduled to make her initial appearance in federal court later Friday.
