A New York cabbie who was a world away when two relatives were killed in Pakistan has been charged in the slayings.
Mohammad Ajmal Choudhry was arrested this year in Brooklyn. He has pleaded not guilty to murder conspiracy charges.
U.S. authorities have based their case on a series of phone calls recorded by Choudhry's daughter. They say he's heard threatening to take revenge on a cousin who helped the daughter escape an arranged marriage in Pakistan.
Around the time of the calls, a gunman shot and killed the cousin's father and sister. U.S. authorities have likened the shootings to so-called honor killings of women in Pakistan who are accused of disgracing their families.
