A suburban Detroit police official says authorities won't pursue charges against a 22-year-old father who left his 3-month-old daughter in a running SUV before it was stolen from a suburban Detroit gas station.

Police say Jesse T. Greer left the girl about 6:45 p.m. Monday in the back seat of the unlocked and running Chevrolet Suburban in Warren while he went inside.

The father called 911 after seeing a man get into the vehicle and drive away. Police say the vehicle was found a few blocks away with Aubrey Williams safe inside.

Warren police Commissioner Jere Green tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens that he conferred with Macomb County prosecutors and decided not to seek charges against Greer, who shows fear and anguish in 911 tapes.
