DOVER, N.J. -- Authorities say a New Jersey man awaiting a court appearance stole a police chief's sunglasses from his car outside police headquarters.
Police in Dover on Wednesday charged 20-year-old Zachary Mills with burglary of a motor vehicle and theft.
Mills was scheduled to appear in court on charges of stealing a debit card, sweat shirt and sunglasses from a car in Rockaway on Tuesday.
Detective Sgt. Richard Gonzalez told The Daily Record of Parsippany an officer investigated after noticing a light on inside Dover Police Chief Harold Valentine's vehicle.
Gonzalez says Mills was inside police headquarters wearing the sunglasses, which are valued at $200.
