Nevada agency asks public, staff to forgo scented personal care products

The Nevada Public Utilities Commission wants staff and visitors to forgo perfume and other synthetic fragrances.

The agency on Wednesday issued a notice asking the public to refrain from wearing scented personal care products as a courtesy to people who are sensitive to chemical fragrances.

Signs posted at PUC buildings ask people not to wear, or to use sparingly, such things as perfume, aftershave, scented hand lotion, fragranced hair products or similar products.

The notices will also be included on all PUC notices of consumer hearings.

Additionally, anyone affronted by scents during PUC meetings may request to watch the proceedings from an adjoining hearing room. Staff will accommodate such requests if the room is available.
