A man accused of a Mississippi murder has pleaded guilty to illegally using the debit card of a woman stabbed to death in northeast Louisiana.
Quinton Tellis, 27, pleaded guilty Thursday to one of three counts with which he was charged. A judge sentenced Tellis to 10 years in prison.
A marijuana possession charge that could have brought him a life sentence was set aside, although it could be revived.
Local media report Tellis entered the plea Thursday morning, as the trial began. The card belonged to Meing-Chen Hsiao, a Taiwanese woman found stabbed to death in August. Tellis isn't charged in her death, although a prosecutor says he could be.
Tellis also faces capital murder charges in the burning death of Mississippi teenager Jessica Chambers. He's agreeing to extradition.
