A Washington man accused of selling marijuana to an undercover officer has pleaded guilty to marijuana distribution charges.
A judge sentenced 30-year-old Nicholas Cunningham to 180 days in jail Monday but suspended the jail sentence and placed him on two years' probation.
Cunningham operated a fleet of vehicles that authorities say were used to sell marijuana in Washington. Cunningham argued that he gave away the drug in exchange for financial donations.
The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/1T4npwZ ) reports that in Washington it's legal for a person over 21 to possess up to 2 ounces of marijuana and give up to 1 ounce to another adult.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Barker argued that Cunningham didn't have a vendor's license and didn't have a system in place to ensure the drugs weren't sold to children.
