Public school officials in Cincinnati brought three van loads of students to vote, then took them to ice cream afterward, Cincinnati.com reported.

Innocent enough? Not at all, according to a lawsuit that alleges the students were given sample ballots with only Democratic candidates.

In the lawsuit, Thomas Brinkman Jr., a Republican candidate for Hamilton County auditor, and the Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending & Taxes ask for a temporary restraining order against school officials, forbidding them from devoting time and resources to partisan politics.

But the school counters that there was nothing partisan about the outings.

This is not the first time that school officials transported students to voting booths, Cincinnati Public Schools spokeswoman Janet Walsh told Cincinnati.com, but “it has to be scrupulously nonpartisan.”
