The Latest on the scheduled execution of a Texas inmate sentenced to death for the 1990 killing of a Dallas-area liquor store clerk during a robbery (all times local):
5 p.m.
No last-day appeals have been filed on behalf of a Texas inmate who faces execution for the 1990 killing of a Dallas-area liquor store clerk.
Gustavo Garcia refused to eat breakfast Tuesday but did visit with family members and friends. He was transferred midday from a prison that houses death row to Huntsville, where executions are carried out.
He was moved to a small holding cell outside the death chamber to await his scheduled lethal injection. Prison officials described the 43-year-old as calm.
Garcia was sentenced to death for the fatal shooting of Craig Turski during a robbery in Plano.
His execution would be the third this year in Texas, which carries out capital punishment more than any other state.

Attorneys for a Texas inmate facing execution for the shotgun slaying of a suburban Dallas liquor store clerk say no late appeals are planned.
Gustavo Garcia's lethal injection scheduled for Tuesday evening would be the third this year in Texas, which carries out capital punishment more than any other state.
The 43-year-old Garcia was sentenced to death for the fatal 1990 shooting of Craig Turski during a robbery.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles rejected a clemency petition and a federal judge considering an appeal Friday refused to halt the execution. The U.S. Supreme Court has also declined to review Garcia's case.
