A judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a Las Vegas man accused of firing a gun backstage while trying to make off with costumes and props from the Thunder From Down Under male revue.

The decision came on Wednesday, in the second day of proceedings against defendant Joey Kadmiri. It wasn't immediately clear what led the judge to that decision.

The 24-year-old Kadmiri faces nine felony burglary, robbery, battery and weapon charges stemming from the March 18 incident at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.

Prosecutors say one cast member suffered gunpowder burns on side of his face and still has eye and ear damage, while another received lesser injuries during the effort to subdue him.

Defense attorney Joshua Tomsheck has said that Kadmiri had drug and mental health issues.
