The girlfriend of a man who shot four people on an eastern Wisconsin bridge before taking his own life says he was irrational and suffered from depression.
Twenty-four-year-old Haylie Peterson tells Post-Crescent Media (http://post.cr/1E89hHW ) she had expressed concern to Sergio Valencia del Toro about his depression before she left their Menasha house Sunday evening. Peterson says she left because they needed time to process their emotions.
Police say the couple had argued before Valencia del Toro headed to the Fox Cities Trestle Trail bridge and fatally shot Jon Stoffel, his 11-year-old daughter, Olivia, and Adam Bentdahl.
Stoffel's wife, Erin, was wounded in the shooting and is hospitalized in serious condition.
Petersen says when she returned home that evening Valencia del Toro was gone and weapons were missing from the house.
