The San Bernardino, California shooting victim credited with shielding a co-worker from bullets as he was killed is returning home to Georgia for burial.
A funeral service for 45-year-old Shannon Hilliard Johnson was scheduled Saturday in the rural city of Jesup, where his mother and siblings live in southeast Georgia.
Fourteen people died in the attack during a Dec. 2 holiday party. One of Johnson's co-workers, Denise Peraza, says he wrapped an arm around her and said "I got you" as they sought cover from the gunfire.
Johnson grew up in Georgia. He spent years driving tractor-trailers moving to California, where he settled in Los Angeles and worked as a health inspector for San Bernardino County.
