A funeral is set for the black driver who was fatally shot by a white police officer after fleeing a traffic stop in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Mourners are expecting to gather for 50-year-old Walter Scott's funeral Saturday morning. A steady stream of people gathered Friday afternoon at a wake to pay their respects to Scott, whose open casket was draped in an American flag and adorned with Dallas Cowboys paraphernalia.
Scott was stopped April 4 for a broken tail light. Relatives suspect he fled officer Michael Slager in fear of being jailed again over missed child support payments.
Police and Slager's lawyer said Scott was shot during a tussle over Slager's gun. Slager was fired and charged with murder after video showed him shooting Scott as he ran away.
