Close friends have been keeping vigil at a Michigan hospital for the Indiana basketball standout fighting for his life after surviving the second plane crash of his young life.
Barrett Colby says when high school teammate and close friend Austin Hatch returns to Fort Wayne, Colby's family and many others will open their hearts and homes. The 16-year-old lost his father and step-mother in the small plane crash Friday in Michigan, and his mother and siblings died in a crash in Indiana nearly eight years ago.
Hatch has been in a drug-induced coma at a Traverse City hospital where Colby and about eight other classmates waited Monday.
A hospital official says he has no information about the teen's condition.
Hatch recently committed to play basketball at the University of Michigan.
