TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Authorities say a Florida Panhandle man died shortly after being stunned by Tallahassee police officers.
Police say officers responded to a call about a man behaving erratically outside an apartment complex Monday night. The officers reported finding 39-year-old Kevin Darius Campbell inside a woman's apartment. He had earlier been reported running up and down the steps, in and out of his own apartment.
The officers tried to detain Campbell, but police say the man struggled. Officers used a Taser to subdue him.
Police say Campbell was still struggling after being stunned, but he later became unresponsive. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The officers involved in the incident have been placed on paid leave.
