Mexican authorities are investigating the killing of a 22-year-old American man who was strangled in the Caribbean resort city of Cancun over the weekend.

Quintana Roo state prosecutors said Tuesday that the body of the man from Kissimmee, Florida, was found on a dirt road Sunday in Punta Sam, a residential area north of downtown Cancun. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City identified that victim as Craig Taylor, ClickOrlando.com reported.

The report said that the night before, Taylor, his brother and two friends had gone to a bar in downtown Cancun. Witnesses told Mexican news outlets that the men had been arguing with employees at a bar over drink prices. Prosecutors have detained the bar's owner and five employees for questioning. Authorities say the group arrived in Cancun on Friday from the United States.
