Floodwaters close parts of interstate highways near St. Louis

In record flooding that has killed at least 20 people, Missouri officials were forced to shut down two interstate highways near St. Louis Wednesday amid fears that already dire conditions could worsen as floodwaters began spilling over federal levees protecting communities and farmland, with others at risk for “possible significant distress.”
